Exhibiting with my son - Black History Month at George Laoun Opticien

My little artist (7yo now) discovered his love for painting when he was about two years old. He used to watch me paint and dip his fingers into my jars or tubes of paint in order to create his own art. It was not long until he moved from finger painting to brushes, wedges or knives.

Who would have ever thought that we would one day exhibit together! What a great experience to share with him! I have to admit that it was quite a feeling to see his name on the list of the artists participating at this exhibition held by George Laoun Opticien and Espace d`Expression et de Creation.

Whenever I painted, he was glued to me, curious to see what I was doing, anxious to imitate me. I used to let him paint on paper and later on on canvas panels. The day he got his first canvas he was so excited that he rushed straight to the easel, grabbed some tubes of paint and started to work on his masterpiece.

A few years later down the road, his passion for creating art is still present and he dabbed into figurative painting as well. Most of his works are abstract, but his figurative ones are simply mind blowing! He never ceased to amaze me with his skills and creativity! I am so proud of my little Picasso!

Anyway, below you can see the two works along with his thoughts on the topic of Black Month History , that was submitted for the collective exhibition.

“PROGRESS”

4”x 6” - acrylic on wooden panel

“Progress” shows the past and the present. In the past the black people suffered a lot. The blood shed has helped the new roots and springs sprawl. Now the balck people have more chances to a better live than before.

“PAIN”

4”x 6” - acrylic on wooden panel

“Pain” represents the struggle and the pain the black people had to go through. All humans are equal. Slavery should never exist again. Everyone should understand that there is no difference between humans. We are all the same, no matter what colour we are. I am not black, but I am not white either. I don’t want anyone to suffer just because they are not white.
