Honored with the King Charles III Coronation Medal: A Gratifying Recognition of Artivism

Last month, I had the incredible honour of receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal alongside several talented artists from Espace d'Expressions et de Création. 🏅 This prestigious recognition was introduced to commemorate the coronation of King Charles III in 2023, and it acknowledges individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities or respective fields. For me, this is a moment of immense pride, as it acknowledges my work as both a visual artist and poet, and the impact of my artivism in raising awareness for the invisible symptoms of chronic illnesses, with a focus on Lyme and Lupus.

A Testament to the Transformative Power of Art

Receiving the King Charles III Coronation Medal is not just a personal milestone, but a powerful reminder of the transformative role that art can play in driving social change. As an artivist, I am deeply passionate about using my work to advocate for change, raise awareness, and engage communities in meaningful conversations. This recognition is a testament to the power of art to make an impact, and I am incredibly grateful to continue using my platform for advocacy for the invisible symptoms of chronic illness . It is both humbling and empowering to be able to stand alongside others who are equally committed to creating positive change through their own art.

A Heartfelt Thank You

I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to The Right Honourable Justin Trudeau, as well as his Papineau Riding Office team. Your unwavering support and dedication have been invaluable, and I am truly honoured by the recognition.

Additionally, I owe a special thank you to Espace d'Expressions et de Création (@espacedexpressions) and the multidisciplinary artist Joseph André for their continuous support, encouragement, and inspiration. Being part of this incredible artistic community has been one of the most important aspects of my growth. Through workshops, exhibitions, and the connections I’ve made, I’ve been able to push the boundaries of my artistic practice and share my work in ways that resonate deeply with others. The sense of belonging and community fostered by Espace d'Expressions et de Création has truly shaped my creative journey, and I feel privileged to be part of such an inspiring group.

Congratulations to Fellow Awardees

I also want to take a moment to congratulate the other incredible artists who received the King Charles III Coronation Medal with me: Jennifer Laoun-Rubenstein (@jenlrmtl), Hélène-Marie Corbeil, Alla Zagordoniuc-Scoarta, Edzer Prophète, Frantz Louis, Lilian Cuer (@liliancuer), Louis Santelli, Gerda Crepsac, Eneida Fernandez, and Joseph André. 🎉 Each one of you is doing exceptional work, and I am proud to stand alongside you in this incredible journey.

I would also like to extend my congratulations to all the other medal recipients for their hard work and commitment to Papineau. 🏅 Your contributions are making a lasting difference, and it’s inspiring to witness the collective impact of our efforts.

Capturing the Moment

A special thank you to @adamscotti and @miastudiomtl for capturing such beautiful moments during the event. Your photography truly brought the energy and excitement of the day to life, and I’m grateful for the memories you’ve helped preserve.

Looking Forward: Continuing the Creative Journey

This recognition is not the end of my journey, but rather a new beginning. It fuels my desire to continue pushing the boundaries of artivism, using my work to speak to the heart of important social issues and spark change. I am deeply committed to using my art as a platform for advocacy, and I am excited for what lies ahead as I continue to create, inspire, and collaborate with others who share the same vision of a better, more inclusive world.

Thank you once again to everyone who has supported me on this journey. I’m excited to keep creating, connecting, and advocating for positive change, one piece of art at a time.
